About the role
The Carbon Project Manager will lead Burn’s carbon credit programmes in Kenya, overseeing the full project lifecycle from data collection to certification. The role combines field‑level coordination with strategic planning to deliver high‑frequency, multi‑project portfolios.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and budget multiple carbon projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial targets.
- Manage field stakeholders including enumerators, vendors, local authorities and community representatives.
- Coordinate with Burn’s Kenya country team, Carbon Technical Team and other internal groups to deliver project inputs on schedule.
- Oversee MRV activities, monitoring surveys, KPT/WBT coordination and verifier engagement.
- Prepare and submit project reports, negotiate with partners and resolve conflicts.
Required profile
- Minimum 4 years of project management experience, preferably in field‑operations or programme delivery.
- Experience with carbon project lifecycles, certification standards (Verra/VCS, Gold Standard) and Article 6.2 bilateral programmes.
- Proven ability to recruit and lead cross‑functional field data collection teams.
- Right to live and work in Kenya and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Smartsheet and Excel for planning, scheduling and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities in dynamic field environments.
- Knowledge of MRV processes and carbon regulatory requirements.
