Career Development Officer

About the role

The Career Development Officer will lead the management of career development, talent progression, mobility and placement for both mobile and country‑based staff within MSF Eastern Africa. Reporting to the Career Development Manager, the role ensures a diverse, competent and future‑ready workforce that can meet operational and leadership needs across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain talent pipelines for key operational and leadership profiles.
• Implement and sustain career development frameworks, competency pathways and professional growth tools.
• Conduct periodic talent reviews and monitor career progression indicators, intervening when needed.
• Provide career coaching, succession planning and talent development support to staff.
• Generate workforce insights to inform individual growth and organisational objectives.
• Manage mobility and placement processes for mobile and country‑based personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing career development, talent progression and staff mobility.
• Ability to design and implement competency frameworks and professional growth tools.
• Strong analytical skills for talent reviews and workforce insight generation.
• Excellent communication and coaching abilities.
