Carpentry & Joinery Trainer (Woodworking)

About the role

Panesar Training Institute is seeking a qualified Trainer to deliver both theoretical and practical instruction in Carpentry, Joinery and Woodworking. The role involves planning lessons, supervising workshop activities and ensuring trainees meet industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver theoretical and hands‑on training in carpentry, joinery and cabinet making.
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, training materials and practical exercises.
• Assess trainee competencies through demonstrations, tests and competency evaluations.
• Monitor attendance, participation, performance and progress of trainees.
• Provide coaching, mentorship and constructive feedback.
• Supervise workshop safety, tool and machinery use, and oversee novice machine operators.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments and progress.
• Support trainees preparing for NITA/TVET assessments and industry attachments.
• Contribute to curriculum development and institutional activities.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Building & Construction, Civil Engineering, Carpentry & Joinery.
• Recognised Pedagogy/Trainer of Trainers certificate.
• Minimum C grade in Mathematics.
• At least 5 years experience as a trainer in building & construction or woodworking.
• Demonstrable practical experience in woodworking, carpentry, joinery or cabinet making.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
