Cashier, Main Pharmacy

About the role

The Cashier in the Main Pharmacy will manage cash transactions, issue receipts and invoices, and ensure accurate accounting of revenue generated. This role requires strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect payments and issue receipts/invoices to internal and external customers.
• Verify each receipt/invoice against a valid prescription and patient photo ID.
• Attach required prescription photocopies to invoices and store them securely.
• Maintain cash, cheques, and vouchers securely and perform timely banking of collections.
• Process smart cards and verify corporate/insurance exemptions before transactions.
• Activate corporate patient accounts and ensure signed claim forms are present.
• Handle customer queries courteously and record verbal complaints.
• Perform manual logging of transactions when the computer system is down and complete any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• KATC II or Diploma in Business Administration (or equivalent) is desirable.
• KCSE grade of C+.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a busy cash office.
• Ability to work under pressure and be a good team player.
• Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
