Casual Barista

About the role

Sawari Hospitality Solutions is looking for a Casual Barista to join its Westlands café team in Nairobi. The role focuses on preparing high‑quality espresso‑based drinks, providing friendly guest service, and keeping the coffee area clean and organized. Candidates should have recent experience in hospitality or a specialty coffee environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of espresso‑based beverages with consistency and quality.
• Deliver personalized, friendly service to guests and handle orders efficiently.
• Maintain deep knowledge of the coffee menu, including specialty and seasonal drinks, and educate guests.
• Keep the coffee preparation area clean, adhere to health and safety standards, and maintain equipment.
• Accurately manage digital and cash transactions, process payments, and handle the register.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in a restaurant or hotel with a hospitality qualification, or 2 years experience with a non‑hospitality degree.
• Experience in a specialty coffee shop or high‑end setting is preferred.
• Barista training or certification is a plus.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, brewing techniques and flavor profiles.
