Chef – Boutique Safari Hotel, Masai Mara

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and creative Chef to lead the kitchen at our boutique safari hotel in Masai Mara, Kenya. The role involves designing menus, managing kitchen operations and delivering memorable dining experiences for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and special event menus using fresh local ingredients.
• Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and adherence to hotel standards.
• Oversee kitchen operations, production schedules and service delivery.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards are met.
• Monitor food costs, control waste and manage inventory.
• Supervise, coach and develop kitchen staff.
• Collaborate with the General Manager on seasonal menus and unique guest experiences.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or Professional Cookery.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hotel, lodge, camp or restaurant setting.
• Experience in safari lodges or boutique hotels is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality.
