Chief Executive Officer (Insurance)

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer & Principal Officer (CEO & PO) provides strategic, operational and financial leadership to Directline Assurance, driving sustainable growth, profitability and regulatory compliance. The role executes the Company's vision and strategy, maintains strong governance and delivers shareholder value in line with Board expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Company's short- and long-term strategy and turn it into operational plans and measurable outcomes
• Deliver profitable growth through sound underwriting and revenue diversification, and oversee budgeting, financial planning and capital management
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (IRA) and corporate governance standards, strengthen risk management and internal controls, and report performance to the Board
• Build and lead a high-performing executive team, drive a culture of accountability and ensure succession planning and talent development
• Act as the primary spokesperson, build relationships with regulators and partners, and promote the corporate brand
• Support Board operations, provide strategic insights and ensure Board resolutions are executed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Insurance, Banking or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage
• Professional qualifications such as ACII, AIIK, CPA, CFA, ACCA or actuarial certification preferred
• Minimum 10 years' senior management experience in insurance or banking
• Membership of a recognized insurance professional body (AIIK or equivalent)
