Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Strategic Finance Leader

About the role

Busha, a fast‑growing digital currency exchange founded in 2018, is looking for a strategic, commercially driven Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will partner with the CEO and Board to shape financial strategy, drive sustainable growth, and ensure compliance with Kenyan and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the CEO and Board on financial strategy, growth initiatives, and risk management.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and KPI tracking.
• Oversee preparation of IFRS‑compliant financial statements and manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
• Optimize cash flow, working capital, liquidity, and multi‑currency operations; manage banking relationships and FX hedging.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan regulators (CBK, CMA, KRA) and lead tax planning, audit processes, and corporate governance.
• Drive fundraising (equity, debt, structured finance), investor relations, and support M&A due diligence and deal structuring.
• Identify financial and operational risks, implement internal controls, and oversee enterprise risk management and AML/CFT compliance.

Required profile

• Strategic, commercially driven finance leader.
• Proven ability to serve as a key advisor to senior executives and boards.
• Experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI management.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Kenyan regulatory frameworks (CBK, CMA, KRA).
• Expertise in treasury, cash‑flow management, and multi‑currency operations.
• Track record in fundraising, investor relations, and M&A support.
• Demonstrated capability to build robust internal controls and risk‑management frameworks.
