About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior leader to head its Ethics and Conduct Unit (ECO) in Nairobi. The Chief will provide strategic direction, policy guidance and advisory support on ethics, integrity and conduct matters across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and update IOM ethics policies, standards of conduct and related guidance.
- Design and deliver global training and outreach programmes on ethical issues and whistle‑blower protections.
- Promote a speak‑up culture by overseeing whistle‑blower mechanisms and ensuring confidentiality and protection for reporters.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and staff on complex ethical dilemmas.
- Coordinate with the Office of Ethics and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment to align initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with integrity, transparency and accountability standards.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in law, public policy, international relations or a related field.
- Extensive experience in ethics, compliance, or governance within an international or UN‑type organization.
- Proven track record of leading policy development and training programmes.
- Strong understanding of migration‑related challenges and UN standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
