Chief Operating Officer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operations of a well‑established insurance brokerage in Kenya. Reporting to the Managing Director, the COO will provide strategic and operational leadership across General Insurance, Corporate Insurance, Personal Lines and Life Assurance portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Drive commercial performance by owning revenue, retention and profitability targets across all insurance lines.
• Manage senior relationships with insurers, underwriters and reinsurers to secure competitive terms and expand product offerings.
• Establish and continuously improve brokerage processes, leveraging technology to enhance turnaround times, data quality and service delivery.
• Partner with senior leadership to define and execute growth strategies, build a robust sales pipeline and represent the business in key industry engagements.
• Oversee client service standards throughout the client lifecycle, ensuring high retention and swift resolution of escalated issues.
• Lead claims management, ensuring timely and fair handling of complex cases and using claims data for performance improvement.
• Ensure full compliance with Kenyan regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in an insurance brokerage or similar financial services environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of meeting revenue and profitability targets.
• Deep understanding of Kenyan insurance regulations and market dynamics.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, drive operational excellence and manage stakeholder relationships at senior levels.
