Clinical Nurse – Cardiology Clinic

About the role

The Clinical Nurse will work in the cardiac clinic at Aga Khan University Hospital, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac investigations and procedures. The role involves direct patient assessment, assistance during specialised cardiac tests, and education of patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial patient assessments and document findings.
• Assist cardiologists and sonographers during Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram and Trans‑Esophageal Echocardiogram procedures.
• Perform and interpret ECGs and support pacemaker interrogations.
• Provide patient and family education on cardiac care and follow‑up on imaging and pathology reports.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources and ensure patients attend scheduled appointments.
• Participate in quality‑improvement activities, billing of consumables, and compliance with health‑and‑safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a recognised diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Current licence with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
