Clinical Nurse Cosmetology

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Cosmetology provides specialised nursing care for patients undergoing dermatology, plastic surgery and aesthetic procedures at Aga Khan Hospitals. The role combines patient assessment, procedural support, laser safety management and wound care within a high‑standards clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, prepare patients for procedures and ensure dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Prepare and assist in clinical and surgical procedures, verify patient and procedure details, maintain aseptic technique and monitor patients pre‑ and post‑intervention.
• Perform daily laser safety checks, manage laser settings, provide eye protection and document safety compliance.
• Apply infection prevention policies, handle sterile equipment and maintain a clean procedural environment.
• Assess, treat and educate patients on wound care, monitor healing, and manage wound‑care supplies.
• Educate patients on procedures, risks, expected outcomes and after‑care instructions.
• Prepare and administer medications, including local anaesthetics and emergency drugs, while ensuring accountability.
• Conduct routine equipment checks, report faults and manage stock levels.
• Respond to medical emergencies, participate in resuscitation drills and maintain emergency equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from a recognised institution.
• Valid Nursing Council of Kenya practising licence.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Wound Care certification; Laser Safety certification is desirable.
• Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) year in dermatology, plastic surgery, theatre or cosmetic practice.
