Clinical Officer - Locum

About the role

Penda Health is hiring a Clinical Officer on a locum basis at its Westlands clinic in Nairobi. The role covers day-to-day clinical care, emergency attendance and minor procedures, with the possibility of extra tasks assigned by the branch manager or clinical officer in charge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical services to patients, including history taking, examination and prescribing treatment.
• Order investigations, interpret results, explain them to patients and discuss the intended treatment.
• Attend emergencies presenting to the clinic and refer cases that cannot be managed.
• Carry out minor surgical procedures according to Penda's service schedules.
• Ensure observations, vitals, prescribed treatments and procedures are recorded on patients' charts.
• Counsel and sensitize patients through health talks on preventive and promotive health.
• Follow evidence-based protocols developed by Penda and take part in continuous professional development.

Required profile

• 2 years of work experience after internship.
• Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and holding a valid practicing license.
• Diploma, Higher Diploma or BSc in Clinical Medicine.
• Valid BLS certification.
