Clinical Officer – Primary Healthcare Provider

About the role

The Clinical Officer will deliver comprehensive primary health services to the community in Lodwar, providing patient assessment, treatment, and health education. This full‑time, on‑site position supports both curative and preventive care within the Lions Strength network.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, take medical histories, conduct examinations and provide diagnosis and treatment within scope of practice.
• Provide first aid, emergency stabilization, follow‑up care and referrals as needed.
• Prescribe and dispense medicines according to approved clinical guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized dispensary and manage medicines, supplies, stock levels and expiry dates.
• Keep accurate, confidential patient records and prepare routine clinical reports.
• Coordinate referrals and support emergency transfers with hospitals and laboratories.
• Deliver first‑aid and clinical support for workplace and campus health incidents.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (or equivalent recognised in Kenya).
• Valid registration with the relevant professional regulatory body and practising licence.
• At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in a dispensary or primary health centre.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or First Aid is an advantage.
• Valid professional indemnity insurance or willingness to obtain it.
