Clinical Officer – Research Trials

About the role

The Clinical Officer will support patient care within KEMRI’s research trials, ensuring ethical conduct and high‑quality clinical services. This full‑time position is based in Nairobi and involves direct interaction with study participants throughout the trial lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Screen, consent and enroll eligible participants while adhering to study protocols and ethical standards.
• Conduct baseline and follow‑up examinations, perform daily ward rounds, and provide routine clinical care.
• Administer investigational products safely according to the approved protocol.
• Diagnose and manage incidental illnesses, monitor and report adverse events.
• Collect, label and track biological specimens, ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery (mandatory).
• At least three years of experience in clinical research or a busy clinic setting.
• Valid registration certificate and practicing licence from the relevant professional body.
• Experience in clinical trials is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience using Zoom and standard email communication tools.
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
