Coach - Soccer

About the role

The university seeks a dedicated Sports Coach to deliver effective physical education and sports training, focusing on soccer while covering a range of other sports. The role aims to develop students' fitness, skills, teamwork, and overall well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver practical physical education lessons and sports training sessions.
• Coach students in netball, hockey, volleyball, handball, rugby, soccer, basketball, swimming and other relevant sports.
• Teach and demonstrate appropriate sports skills, techniques, rules, tactics and strategies.
• Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback and support continuous improvement.
• Identify and develop talented students, preparing teams and individuals for competitions.
• Organise and coordinate sports events, competitions, tournaments and other physical activities.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, inclusion and healthy lifestyles among students.
• Ensure proper use, safety and maintenance of sports facilities and equipment, applying first‑aid, CPR and injury‑prevention procedures as needed.
• Maintain records of training, student performance, attendance, competitions and sports‑related incidents.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Sports Science or Physical Education; a Bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
• Relevant playing and coaching experience across multiple sports.
• Teaching/pedagogical skills with ability to plan practical lessons, demonstrate skills, assess students and give constructive feedback.
• First‑aid/CPR certification and knowledge of sports safety and injury prevention.
• Registration or accreditation with the relevant national sports/coaching body where applicable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of rules, techniques, tactics and officiating for a variety of sports.
• Ability to plan and deliver practical lessons and training sessions.
• Competence in assessing performance and providing feedback.
• First‑aid and CPR proficiency.
