Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair and cable telephone equipment, including programming the CS1000 telephone and CallPilot systems, and the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Unity messaging connection.
• Design, install, maintain and repair seven radio networks, including digital repeaters, handheld radios, base stations, antennas and mobile radios.
• Support the unclassified networking infrastructure at the main Chancery, Acacia, OAK, Chief of Mission Residences and Deputy Chief of Mission Residences, including OpenNet, Non-Enterprise Network switches, routers and a firewall.
• Manage microwave point-to-point networks across 7 LAN tail sites and work with the mission's ISPs across 20 WAN circuits, monitoring service degradation and troubleshooting connections.
• Collaborate with ENM, ITSC and other Washington program offices to configure VPN devices, troubleshoot network latency, monitor line availability and client switch configurations.
• Assist audio-visual technicians with infrastructure setups for high-profile meetings using sound mixers, wireless microphones and camera equipment.

Required profile

• A university degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Systems or a similar technical field.
• Three years of relevant experience in radio, telephone and data network infrastructure at a level comparable to Tiers 2 and 3 support.
• Ability to obtain and hold a security clearance; all candidates undergo a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
• Must be able to start within a reasonable time after receiving authorization and clearances, or candidacy ends.
