Communication Support Intern

About the role

The Communication Division of UNEP in Nairobi is looking for a Communication Support Intern to help with communications activities related to World Environment Day, Champions of the Earth, Young Champions of the Earth, the UN Environment Assembly and other priority initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing communication materials such as meeting notes, email drafts, background papers, social media content and digital analyses.
• Support coordination within the Communication Division and with other departments, including information sharing, follow‑up and tracking of actions.
• Help manage partnerships for World Environment Day and Champions programmes by responding to inquiries, scheduling meetings, conducting research, maintaining databases and monitoring relevant data.
• Assist in organising and providing logistical support for internal and external meetings and events, including agenda preparation and documentation.
• Contribute to the preparation of campaign briefings, wrap‑up reports and other communications outputs.
• Provide administrative, project‑management and information‑management support as needed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme or the final year of a bachelor’s/master’s/PhD programme.
• Preferred fields of study: Communication, International affairs or environment‑related disciplines.
• No prior work experience required; fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
• Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
