Community Mobilizer (Makueni County)

About the role

We are seeking a Community Mobilizer to work with vulnerable households in Makueni County, Kenya. The role focuses on implementing livelihood and resilience interventions, supporting value-chain development, and promoting financial inclusion among community members.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor the implementation of interventions under the 4 Rs framework (risk reduction, transfer, retention, diversification).
• Assist in preparing work plans, budgets and activity plans for local value-chain development projects.
• Mobilise and register households, facilitate the formation of producer groups and project implementation units.
• Produce regular progress reports, situational updates and quarterly/annual reports.
• Support quality assurance visits and monitor compliance with livelihood and resilience standards.
• Deliver training on the 4 Rs, digital financial inclusion and on‑farm/off‑farm value chains.
• Provide continuous coaching, mentoring and linkage to support services for financial inclusion groups.
• Conduct market research, baseline and end‑line evaluations, and post‑distribution monitoring.
• Analyse activity and budget performance to ensure adherence to approved plans.

Required profile

• Residency in Makueni County and willingness to work locally.
• Experience in community mobilisation, livelihood projects or agricultural value‑chain initiatives.
• Ability to prepare work plans, budgets and detailed reports.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
• Basic understanding of financial inclusion and digital tools.
