Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) – EQA Ol Kalou

About the role

The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) will provide preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services in community and rural settings. You will work within a network of franchised outpatient centres, delivering high‑quality, affordable dental care to underserved populations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services in community settings.
• Conduct school dental health programmes, community outreach and mobile clinic activities.
• Perform basic dental procedures such as examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride applications.
• Ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently applied.
• Record patient data and manage reports using Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
• Provide oral health education and mobilise communities around disease prevention.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognised institution.
• Valid registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Minimum two years post‑internship experience in dental or public‑health settings.
• Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Experience with community outreach, school programmes or mobile dental clinics is an advantage.
• Strong clinical knowledge of dental hygiene, oral disease prevention and infection control.
• Good computer skills, especially with HMIS platforms.
