Computer Teacher (Early Years)

About the role

The Early Years Computer Teacher works with learners aged 3 to 8 years (Playgroup, PP1, PP2 and Lower Primary) to introduce them to basic computer skills and digital literacy through interactive, practical and age-appropriate activities. The role covers lesson development, progress assessment and ensuring safe, responsible use of digital devices in a child-friendly environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate computer lessons for early years learners.
• Introduce basic computer skills, such as identifying computer parts, using a mouse and keyboard and basic digital literacy.
• Use interactive games, songs and practical activities to make learning engaging.
• Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching aids and assessment materials.
• Assess learners' progress and keep accurate academic records.
• Ensure the safe, responsible and proper use of computers and other digital devices.
• Maintain computer equipment and report technical issues.
• Collaborate with other teachers to integrate ICT into classroom learning and promote a safe, inclusive environment.

Required profile

• A relevant certificate, diploma or degree in ICT, Computer Studies, Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Training in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) is an added advantage.
• At least two years of working experience in an educational setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods.
• Basic ICT applications.
