Consultant – Land and Forest Tenure Reforms

About the role

The World Agroforestry Centre (CIFOR) is looking for an experienced consultant to support land and forest tenure reform initiatives in Kenya. The consultant will work closely with CIFOR teams and partners to provide expert advice and contribute to policy‑relevant research.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse existing land and forest tenure frameworks and identify gaps.
• Develop recommendations and strategic options for reform.
• Prepare policy briefs, reports and presentation materials for stakeholders.
• Facilitate multi‑disciplinary workshops and stakeholder consultations.
• Support the integration of tenure considerations into CIFOR programmes and projects.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field (e.g., natural resources, law, development studies).
• Fluent spoken and written English; additional language proficiency is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience working in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams, preferably within a non‑profit environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
