Consultant Pulmonologist & Intensivist

About the role

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is seeking a Consultant Pulmonologist & Intensivist to join its Medicine Department. Reporting to the Head of Department, the role involves delivering specialist pulmonology and critical‑care services across outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency, HDU and ICU.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist consultation, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases.
• Perform and interpret bronchoscopy, pulmonary function tests, thoracic ultrasound and other respiratory investigations.
• Lead the care of critically ill adult patients in ICU and HDU, including invasive and non‑invasive mechanical ventilation and advanced airway management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, case discussions and on‑call roster to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Develop, review and implement evidence‑based clinical guidelines and care pathways for pulmonology and critical care.
• Mentor junior medical staff and contribute to continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
