Contract Assistant Baker

About the role

Nexus Staffing Solutions Limited is recruiting on behalf of its client, a bakery in Eastleigh, Nairobi, for a hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Assistant Baker to support daily bakery operations. The postholder assists with preparing ingredients, mixing dough, shaping baked products, keeping the area clean and helping the baker maintain consistent product quality. Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients and measuring quantities according to recipes.
• Support the preparation and baking of bread, cakes, pastries and other bakery products.
• Mix dough, shape products and prepare items for baking.
• Operate basic baking equipment safely under supervision.
• Prepare baking trays, utensils and workstations before production.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bakery, equipment and work surfaces.
• Observe food hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
• Assist with packaging, arranging and storing finished products and monitor ingredients to minimise wastage.
• Follow instructions from the head baker and other supervisors and help meet daily production needs.

Required profile

• Previous bakery or food preparation experience is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of baking processes and ingredients is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced bakery environment, with good personal hygiene, reliability, punctuality and discipline.
• Must be based in Eastleigh or the surrounding areas and able to commute reliably.
• Must be able to work the scheduled afternoon and evening shift.

The position is a contract role starting in November 2026, paid KES 10,000 - 13,000 per month. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
