Control Room Operator – Biochar Production (Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Control Room Operator provides centralized PLC oversight of the biochar pyrolysis lines while also acting as a floater to support any department during each shift. This dual function ensures continuous monitoring, rapid response to anomalies, and seamless coverage across the production floor.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all PLC/HMI displays and process dashboards for both production lines throughout the shift.
• Identify performance deviations, alarm conditions, or anomalies and alert the Shift Supervisor or operator immediately.
• Log process data, alarms, and system events in the shift control log at regular intervals.
• Support Shift Supervisors with centralized performance tracking and production reporting.
• Assist with system start‑up and shutdown sequences and escalate recurring control system faults.
• Cover breaks for any operator across both lines, maintaining full line coverage.
• Provide hands‑on support to operations, maintenance, feedstock, or QA/QC teams as directed.
• Respond to unexpected incidents, equipment stoppages, or surge workloads on the floor.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, IT, or Process Control (preferred).
• Experience with PLC/HMI systems or SCADA (strongly preferred).
• Prior experience across multiple production roles in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and clear communication with the Shift Supervisor.
• Willingness to work rotating 9‑hour shifts, including nights.
• Physically capable of working in a hot, dusty industrial environment.
