Cost Accountant

About the role

Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Nairobi is hiring a full-time, on-site Cost Accountant (entry level). The role covers cost reporting, expense analysis, budget monitoring and inventory cost tracking, with a focus on infrastructure and donor-funded projects and care package costing.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports on infrastructure and donor-funded projects, providing insights for decision making.
• Coordinate with accounts payable to plan payments, manage liquidity, financing costs and budgets, and avoid project delays with cost implications.
• Track direct and indirect input costs for inpatient and outpatient services and identify areas for improvement.
• Collect and review feedback from patients, caregivers, payers and staff on care packages, and redesign and cost them in line with legal and quality standards.
• Review service packages against the market and patient needs, and design more responsive, competitive offerings.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and audit schedules, and carry out any other related duties assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA section IV or ACCA part II.
• 2 years of relevant working experience.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of accounting reconciliation processes and cash management.
• Analytical thinking and integrity.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
