Country Director – Kenya

About the role

The Country Director will lead Pharo Foundation’s operations in Kenya, overseeing both non‑profit programmes and for‑profit ventures. Reporting to the COO, the role combines strategic vision with operational excellence to deliver measurable impact across education, water infrastructure and economic productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the Kenyan office, stewarding people, brand, assets and the licence to operate.
• Translate the Foundation’s long‑term ambitions into concrete outcomes, ensuring programmes and ventures meet high standards of excellence and accountability.
• Engage with government and other external stakeholders to secure partnerships and regulatory approvals.
• Oversee complex, multi‑sector programmes, balancing non‑profit impact with for‑profit sustainability.
• Build, mentor and retain high‑performing teams across all divisions.
• Collaborate with global leadership and senior executives to foster a culture of collaboration and execution.

Required profile

• Commercially minded, mission‑driven leader with a proven track record in senior management.
• Deep understanding of Kenya’s operating environment and stakeholder landscape.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast‑growing settings and drive institutional building.
• Strong strategic thinking coupled with hands‑on operational capability.
