County Coordination Consultant – Nakuru County (12‑month contract)

About the role

The County Coordination Consultant will provide sustained county‑level leadership, coordination and operational oversight for Girl Effect’s sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and maternal and child health (MCH) programmes in Nakuru County, Kenya. Acting as Girl Effect’s eyes and boots on the ground, the consultant will ensure county plans are translated into timely, safe and high‑quality implementation while keeping partners aligned and reporting accurate information to the programme team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the county implementation plan, activity calendar and stakeholder engagement plan in line with the approved programme strategy, workplan and budget.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day delivery and logistical arrangements for all county activities with Girl Effect and implementing partners, convening regular partner check‑ins and tracking actions.
• Serve as the primary liaison with county and sub‑county government health departments, securing approvals, aligning activities with county priorities and representing Girl Effect at county forums.
• Map, monitor and support the performance of implementing partners, health facilities and community actors, ensuring compliance with agreed standards and escalating persistent issues.
• Identify, map and validate public and private referral sites, verify provider readiness and monitor referral pathways for stock‑outs, cost, stigma or confidentiality barriers.
• Support recruitment, training, deployment and supervision of community champions, facilitators and health promoters, and coordinate community venues and mobilisation for programme activities.
• Track county indicators, maintain accurate records of programme activities, referrals and partner performance, conduct data‑quality checks and assist with verification exercises.
• Ensure all county activities comply with Girl Effect’s safeguarding, accountability and reporting requirements.
