Credit Risk Advisory Lead (East Africa)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a senior Credit Risk Advisory professional to lead and expand its Credit Risk and Capital Advisory portfolio across East Africa. The role will involve working with banks, fintechs, digital lenders and other financial institutions to deliver risk management, capital management and regulatory transformation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex credit risk, capital management and regulatory advisory engagements across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia.
• Advise clients on credit risk frameworks, governance, risk appetite, portfolio management and credit strategy.
• Support Basel implementation, ICAAP, stress testing, recovery planning and capital management initiatives.
• Oversee IFRS 9, credit modelling, model validation and risk analytics projects.
• Drive modernization of credit risk capabilities through data, analytics and technology‑enabled solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior client stakeholders, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Identify business opportunities, contribute to proposals and mentor high‑performing teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk advisory within the financial services sector.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale regulatory and capital management engagements.
• Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to influence senior executives and regulators.
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative risk solutions and drive business development.
