Critical Care Nurse (ICU/HDU)

About the role

Jordan Hospital is looking for a qualified and experienced Critical Care Nurse to join its healthcare team in Kitui. The nurse provides safe, comprehensive, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), monitoring patients continuously, managing clinical deterioration early and working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/HDU
• Monitor patients' vital signs, clinical status and response to treatment
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including ventilators and infusion pumps
• Administer prescribed medications and implement nursing care plans
• Recognize and respond promptly to clinical emergencies
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective handover and communication
• Adhere to infection prevention and control measures, patient safety standards and hospital protocols
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing from a recognized institution
• Valid and current practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
• Must meet Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in computer applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
