Crop Production Lead

About the role

Orpurkel Farms Ltd. is seeking a Crop Production Lead to manage its high‑tech greenhouse and open‑field operations in Imbirikani/Eselenkei, Kajiado South. This full‑time, on‑site position will be responsible for planning and executing crop production activities, supervising field teams, and ensuring that quality and sustainability standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily farming tasks including land preparation, planting, irrigation, chemical application and harvesting.
• Develop and adjust irrigation schedules and crop nutrition plans based on soil conditions.
• Conduct regular field scouting to monitor crop health and detect pests or diseases early.
• Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols and manage soil fertility programs.
• Supervise, motivate and schedule farm workers, providing hands‑on training on tools, planting techniques and safety.
• Maintain inventory of seeds, fertilizers, agro‑chemicals and ensure proper maintenance of machinery and irrigation systems.
• Record crop yields, chemical applications, labor costs and input usage, and produce operational reports for management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture or Agribusiness (KNEC certified).
• 2‑5 years of hands‑on experience in commercial crop production, greenhouse or open‑field farming in Kenya.
• Strong knowledge of East African crop pests, diseases and IPM strategies.
• Practical experience with modern irrigation, fertigation and soil health management.
