Cross-Border Knowledge Management Internship (Horn of Africa)

About the role

The Cross‑Border Knowledge Management Intern will support the UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa in Nairobi, focusing on governance and peacebuilding initiatives across the Horn of Africa. The role involves assisting with policy analysis, programme design, and the creation of knowledge products that inform UNDP’s work on conflict prevention and social cohesion.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on cross‑border governance, conflict dynamics, and peacebuilding trends in the Horn of Africa.
• Support the development of programme concepts, proposals, and implementation plans.
• Prepare briefing notes, policy briefs, and knowledge‑sharing materials for internal and external audiences.
• Assist in maintaining the Hub’s knowledge management database and ensuring timely updates.
• Contribute to the synthesis of lessons learned and best practices from ongoing projects.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme (undergraduate or graduate) in political science, international relations, development studies, or a related field.
• Strong interest in governance, peacebuilding, and regional security issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
