Customs Business Development Manager

About the role

The Customs Business Development Manager will lead the growth of Maersk Line's customs clearance business (CHB) in Kenya. You will be responsible for developing strategy, building a sales pipeline, and converting prospects into long‑term customers while ensuring revenue and profit targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a CHB growth strategy to increase customs clearance revenue and market share.
• Own end‑to‑end customer engagement from prospecting through solution design, pricing, negotiation, contracting and implementation.
• Drive customer acquisition and retention, upselling and cross‑selling within existing accounts.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and regulatory changes to identify new growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance, Compliance and Product teams to design competitive customs solutions and ensure smooth onboarding.
• Maintain accurate pipeline reporting, forecast sales, and track performance metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, international trade, business administration, economics or related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics or international trade.
• Proven track record in CHB sales, business development, customer acquisition or solution selling with measurable revenue growth.
• Strong understanding of customs regulations, clearance processes, bonded operations and transit cargo.
• Experience working across sales, product, operations, finance and compliance functions.
