About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MCH) nurse to lead the Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) and Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) at its facility in Hagadera. Reporting to the facility in‑charge, the nurse will deliver comprehensive health services to women, infants and children, ensuring high‑quality care in a humanitarian setting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide antenatal, delivery (normal and emergency) and post‑natal care, including counseling on breastfeeding, family planning and newborn care.
- Perform essential clinical procedures such as blood pressure monitoring, fetal heart rate monitoring, vaginal examinations and maternal tetanus immunization.
- Administer family planning services, including long‑acting reversible contraceptives, and offer post‑abortion care and cervical cancer screening.
- Monitor newborn health, provide neonatal interventions, vaccinations and nutrition linkage for vulnerable neonates.
- Deliver child health services: immunizations per EPI schedule, treatment of common illnesses (diarrhoea, pneumonia, malaria), growth monitoring and child development promotion.
- Maintain accurate medical records, submit health indicator reports and supervise junior staff.
- Participate in training, clinical audits and community outreach activities.
Required profile
- Qualified MCH nurse with experience in maternal, newborn and child health services.
- Ability to work in a humanitarian environment and supervise junior staff.
- Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
