Cyber Security Engineer – Consulting Role

About the role

CloudPlexo is seeking a motivated Cyber Security Engineer to join its security practice. You will work alongside senior consultants to deliver assessments, monitor threats, and help clients strengthen their security posture in a fast‑growing consulting environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on client networks, applications, and systems.
• Perform security gap analyses and risk assessments aligned with ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS Controls.
• Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools, investigate anomalies, and support incident response activities.
• Assist clients in implementing security controls, policies, and best practices, and deliver security awareness training.
• Develop and review security policies, disaster recovery plans, and support compliance audits for PCI‑DSS, GDPR, and Kenya’s Data Protection Act.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security.
• Foundational knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs).
• Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux and macOS operating systems.
• Understanding of common attack vectors, malware types, and security controls.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and written communication skills.
