CYP Food Service Worker

About the role

The CYP Food Service Worker supports food preparation and service for children and youth in classroom and activity settings. The role involves handling food safely, maintaining a clean kitchen environment, and ensuring compliance with nutrition and sanitation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation tasks such as peeling, cutting, washing vegetables and fruits, assembling sandwiches, and measuring ingredients.
• Stock service carts with utensils, plates, bowls, food and beverages for family‑style dining.
• Transport food from the kitchen to classrooms, return carts and dishes, and dispose of waste according to sanitation regulations.
• Pre‑rinse, wash, and sanitize pots, pans, dishes, glasses and silverware using a mechanical dishwasher or manually.
• Perform heavy‑duty cleaning of kitchen equipment, exhaust hoods, floors, walls, walk‑in refrigerators and freezers.
• Label, date, and store food items in compliance with NAVMED P5010 and USDA CACFP standards.
• Unload deliveries, move heavy garbage cans, and maintain an orderly work area.
• Comply with security, fire, and sanitation policies; act as a mandatory reporter for suspected child abuse.

Required profile

• Ability to follow food safety and sanitation regulations (NAVMED P5010, USDA CACFP).
• Willingness to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy items and moving equipment.
• Commitment to adhere to security, fire and child‑protection policies.
