Data Engineer

About the role

Abacus is seeking a Data Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering direction across multiple software delivery squads within its Software Engineering Centre of Excellence. The role focuses on guiding solution design, ensuring architecture alignment, and delivering high‑quality, secure enterprise software.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise data solutions.
• Drive technical decision‑making, architecture alignment, and engineering best practices across agile squads.
• Collaborate with architects, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivery approaches.
• Ensure consistent implementation of coding standards, security controls, and quality assurance processes.
• Support sprint planning, estimation, technical road‑maps, and delivery execution.
• Review and approve technical designs, code quality, and implementation approaches.
• Identify and resolve technical risks, dependencies, and delivery blockers.
• Champion DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and cloud engineering practices.
• Contribute to reusable engineering assets, frameworks, and standards.
• Assist with production stability, operational readiness, and root‑cause analysis when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in an enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of agile methodologies and software delivery processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional stakeholders.
