Data Manager (Clinical Trials Research Data)

About the role

KEMRI is hiring a full-time, on-site Data Manager in Busia, Kenya. The role manages research data, maintains databases, ensures data accuracy and security, supervises data entry and prepares reports for study teams. The deadline for applications is 15 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to study analysis plans and data management plans, and guide database development for study data management.
• Oversee data entry, run routine data checks, resolve queries and generate reports.
• Liaise with trial and other data managers and programmers on data quality and missing data, and verify data accuracy and validity.
• Schedule and prepare progress reports and analyses for Data Monitoring Committees, Steering Committees and publications.
• Scrutinize data for discrepancies, errors and missing data, and report and coordinate with study investigators, data clerks and programmers on error resolution per the study protocol.
• Discuss and interpret results with colleagues and collaborators, and ensure deadlines and milestones are met.
• Support summary tables and graphics for interim and final analyses, and prepare and archive research data and documentation.
• Ensure all study data processes comply with data protection regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field from a recognized university.
• Mandatory knowledge of managing clinical trials data and developing databases related to clinical trials.
• Experience in database management and research data handling.
• Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision and in a multi-cultural environment.
