About the role
The Data Protection Officer will support Sidian Bank’s Data Protection Office in establishing, implementing and continuously improving the bank’s data privacy framework. The role ensures compliance with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, ODPC guidance and relevant banking regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the bank’s data protection governance structure, policies, standards and regulatory obligations register.
- Coordinate periodic reviews of data protection policies, conduct DPIAs for high‑risk processing activities and embed privacy‑by‑design in product and technology development.
- Manage the Data Protection Risk Register, monitor emerging privacy risks and report to the Board and risk committees.
- Oversee data subject request handling, breach investigation, incident reporting and regulatory liaison with the ODPC.
Required profile
- Law, IT or Business degree.
- CIPP or equivalent Data Protection certification.
- Knowledge of Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, ODPC guidance and banking regulatory requirements.
