Debt Recovery Unit (DRU) Manager

About the role

Fincorp Credit is recruiting a DRU Manager in Westlands, Nairobi, to lead and oversee its Debt Recovery Unit. The manager drives effective recovery strategies, manages portfolio performance and ensures recovery activities are efficient and compliant with company policy and applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement debt recovery strategies to improve collection and recovery performance.
• Lead, supervise and motivate the DRU team to achieve set targets.
• Monitor delinquent and non-performing loan portfolios and ensure timely intervention.
• Develop and track recovery plans for overdue and non-performing accounts.
• Review recovery performance reports and give regular updates to management.
• Identify trends and challenges in collections and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow up and manage outstanding customer accounts and escalate complex or high-value cases.
• Work with Credit, Risk, Legal, Branches and other teams on recovery.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Coach team members and continuously improve recovery processes and systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Law or a related field.
• At least 4 years' experience in credit management, debt collection, recoveries or a related function, with supervisory or managerial experience.
• Experience in banking, microfinance, SACCO, fintech or financial services is an advantage.
• Professional qualification in Credit Management, Banking, Finance or a related discipline is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of loan recovery, collections and portfolio management.
• Analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good knowledge of credit and debt recovery practices and regulatory requirements.
