Depot Field Clerk

About the role

A client of Reeds Africa Consult is looking for a competent and organised Depot Clerk in Mombasa to support the day-to-day running of the depot. The successful candidate keeps accurate records, coordinates the movement of goods, supports loading and offloading, and ensures cargo received and dispatched is properly documented.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify and record incoming and outgoing cargo at the depot.
• Prepare and maintain accurate depot, stock, dispatch and receiving records.
• Coordinate loading, offloading and movement of cargo within the depot.
• Verify quantities, documentation and condition of goods received and dispatched.
• Maintain records of dry and wet cargo with supporting documentation.
• Liaise with drivers, transporters, suppliers and customers to keep cargo moving smoothly.
• Monitor cargo movements and ensure compliance with depot procedures.
• Assist with stock reconciliation and report discrepancies, damages, shortages or irregularities.
• Keep delivery notes, dispatch documents, weighbridge tickets and other logistics records filed and safe.
• Support general depot administration and adhere to health, safety, security and company procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Customs Administration, Freight Forwarding or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in depot operations handling dry and wet cargo; previous experience with dry and/or wet cargo is mandatory.
• Experience with liquid bulk cargo such as petroleum products, oils or chemicals is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of cargo documentation, stock records, dispatch procedures and inventory control.
• Ability to work in a busy depot environment and meet operational deadlines.
