Deputy Director for Grants and Accountability

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Deputy Director for Grants and Accountability to lead its Kenya Grants & Partnerships Unit. Reporting to the Country Director, you will oversee a team of about 20 staff and ensure effective management of donor awards, sub‑awards, and business development activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Grants & Partnerships Unit, ensuring timely and accurate technical and financial reporting for all awards.
• Coordinate award reviews, project cycle meetings, and budget‑vs‑actual reviews.
• Develop and implement fundraising strategies, engage key donors, and manage the proposal development process.
• Oversee compliance with donor requirements and IRC’s SAP100 strategy, focusing on partnerships and client accountability.
• Collaborate with senior management, especially the Deputy Director for Programs, to deliver on program objectives.
• Manage donor relationships, business development processes, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and client accountability frameworks.

• Proven experience in grant management, donor relations, and humanitarian funding.
• Strong leadership skills to supervise a multidisciplinary team.
