Deputy Lead Internal Auditor

About the role

The Partnership Agency is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a Deputy Lead Auditor for a leading Kenyan FMCG manufacturer with brands in edible oils, fats, hygiene and personal care. The role strengthens the internal audit team and helps the company stay compliant with internal policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements. The position is based in Thika.

Key responsibilities

• Audit planning and preparation: develop detailed audit plans covering scope, objectives and timelines; conduct risk assessments and gather background information; coordinate with department heads and stakeholders to schedule audits.
• Audit execution: lead the audit team during on-site or remote fieldwork; test internal controls, transactions and business processes; identify gaps, risks and non-compliance and document findings.
• Reporting and communication: prepare clear audit reports with findings and recommendations; present results to senior leadership and relevant departments; mentor junior auditors.
• Follow-up and monitoring: track implementation of recommendations, run follow-up audits and monitor emerging risks and changes in the internal control environment.
• Continuous improvement: stay updated on industry trends, best practices and regulations, recommend process improvements and take part in training and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CIA or an equivalent.
• At least 2-4 years of experience in internal or external auditing.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent verbal and written communication, comfort working independently and in teams, and a detail-oriented approach.

Required skills

• Familiarity with audit software and tools is an added advantage.
