Director, Development & Partnerships

About the role

African Collaborative, which invests exclusively in African-led organizations, is hiring a Director, Development & Partnerships. The role reports to the Co-CEOs, manages the Development & Partnerships team and is fully remote, based in the US or Europe (Eastern Time US to Central European Time preferred). It is a director-level, full-time position starting in January 2027, earlier preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Steer the fundraising department's vision, goals and projections, and act as a thought partner to the Co-CEOs to turn fundraising strategy into actionable plans.
• Lead, build and grow the fundraising team, including structuring it as the budget grows from about $5M to $10M per year, and manage relationships with contracted fundraising service providers.
• Set up and improve systems such as CRM, pipeline tracking and reporting, and balance in-house staff with outside consultants.
• Build a framework for evaluating major-gift, HNWI, foundation and institutional prospects, and oversee a prioritized, well-researched pipeline.
• Design cultivation strategies for priority prospects and mentor the fundraising and executive support teams.
• Guide the strategy and narrative for grant proposals, concept notes and reports, and own forecasting and reporting against pipeline and revenue targets.
• Diversify the funding base through business development, representing the organization at events and conferences and cultivating funder relationships.
• Shape revenue pathways, including new grant partnership models and earned revenue, and stay plugged into the funding sector to inform fundraising and advocacy strategy.

What we offer

• Salary of $110,000-$150,000 depending on qualifications.
