Driver for UN Women Regional Office (Nairobi)

About the role

The Driver will provide reliable, safe, and discreet transportation services to senior UN Women officials, visitors and staff in Nairobi. The role also includes basic administrative and clerical support for the Regional Office and back‑up for protocol and administrative assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Drive office vehicles for the Regional Director, Deputy Director, high‑ranking officials and VIP visitors, ensuring compliance with security and protocol standards.
• Meet personnel at the airport, handle visa and customs formalities when required, and transport mail and documents to government offices, embassies and UN facilities.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logs, fuel receipts, odometer readings and maintenance records; submit weekly and monthly reports.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, arrange minor and major repairs through proper procurement channels, and ensure the vehicle is clean and fully equipped.
• Provide logistical support for protocol arrangements, document delivery, visa and ID processing, and assist with procurement e‑requisitions.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education and a valid driver’s licence.
• At least 3 years of driving experience in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean safety record.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.
• Basic administrative support experience is desirable.

Required skills

• Defensive driving (certification is an asset).
• Accurate record‑keeping for vehicle usage, fuel consumption and maintenance.
• Knowledge of security and safety standards for official vehicles.
