About the role

The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), a Constitutional Commission of Kenya, is recruiting two Drivers III (ref. NGEC/HR/4/9/2026) based in Nairobi, Westlands. The position is permanent and pensionable, with a basic salary of Ksh. 73,500 to 117,600, house allowance according to the posting station, a commuter allowance of Ksh. 4,000, 30 working days of annual leave and medical cover as provided under the Commission's terms of service.

Key responsibilities

• Drive vehicles as authorised
• Maintain assigned vehicles and detect common mechanical faults
• Carry out routine checks of cooling, oil, electrical, brake systems and tyre pressure
• Report accidents, incidents and malfunctions promptly
• Maintain daily work tickets and keep vehicles clean
• Ensure the safety of vehicles on and off the road and of passengers

Required profile

• KCSE mean grade D+ (plus)
• Valid driving licence free from endorsements for the class of vehicles driven
• At least three years of active driving experience
• Passed Occupational Trade Test II for Drivers and the Grade II suitability test by KIHBT
• Defensive driving certificate from the AA of Kenya or an equivalent
• First-aid course of at least one week and a driver refresher course of at least one week
• Computer skills and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
