Driver (GA) - Nairobi

About the role

The Kenya Country Office of the World Bank's Country Management Unit for Africa East Central East Countries 2 (AECE2) is recruiting a Driver (grade GA) based in Nairobi. The post reports to the Operations Manager, with day-to-day supervision from the Senior Administrative Officer, and covers the provision of safe, punctual transport for staff and office documents.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and provide transport for official activities, including field trips for staff and mission teams, in line with transport request procedures
• Maintain office vehicles, liaising with appointed garages for repairs and maintenance
• Keep records of each vehicle (maintenance dates, insurance, plate number, fuel consumption) and register every trip by mileage
• Organize transport for high-level and VIP staff on missions in Kenya
• Ensure vehicles are kept clean and assist with other administrative tasks as needed

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of driving experience with an international organization or development agency
• Valid driving licence, defensive driving certificate and first aid certificate
• Familiarity with Nairobi roads and the Kenyan road network, and with traffic rules and the highway code
• Clean driving record with no fault for a road accident in the last three years
• Fit to drive medical clearance from a licensed local practitioner
• High school or equivalent education, proficient English, and preference for local talent

Required skills

• Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Defensive driving and first aid
• Ability to follow instructions, manage time and work in a multicultural team
