Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Fixed-Term (Tupande)

About the role

We are looking for an exceptional Electrical Engineer with 3‑5 years of experience to execute electrical maintenance, automation troubleshooting, and instrumentation repairs across all Tupande Soko factories. The role involves hands‑on electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and mentoring staff to ensure safety and food‑safety compliance while reducing operational downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Execute hands‑on electrical repairs, wiring calibrations and troubleshooting on critical processing machinery across all Tupande Soko factories.
• Carry out preventive maintenance schedules, calibration routines and load‑balancing checks using the CMMS system.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems on industrial dehydrators, macadamia sorting lines and bio‑char manufacturing equipment, ensuring correct voltage, current and IP ratings.
• Mentor factory operators and maintenance staff on safe electrical practices, LOTO procedures and basic autonomous checks.
• Maintain HACCP‑required records and ensure compliance with Kenyan electrical, occupational health and food‑safety regulations.

Required profile

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Active technical registration/licensing to perform electrical works in Kenya (EPRA/DOSH preferred).
• 3–5 years of hands‑on fault finding and root‑cause analysis on industrial plant equipment.
• Experience with automated components, VFDs, PLCs, sensors and industrial dehydrators, preferably in food‑processing environments.

Required skills

• Electrical fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• Programming and configuring Variable Frequency Drives and PLC I/O.
• Sensor calibration and instrumentation parameter setting.
• CMMS operation (SAP PM, Maximo, Limble or equivalent).
• Reading and interpreting industrial electrical schematics and wiring single/three‑phase motors.
