Electrical Maintenance Officer (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Tupande, the local brand of One Acre Fund's Kenya program, is hiring a fixed-term Electrical Maintenance Officer in Rukanga. The officer carries out hands-on electrical and instrumentation maintenance on production lines under the direction of the Production Coordinators and Production Supervisors. The contract lasts 3 months.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the assigned pyrolysis line throughout the shift for signs of electrical faults, unusual sounds or abnormal conditions.
• Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns: diagnose the fault, repair it and restore production as quickly as possible.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks during the shift as directed by the Production Coordinators (Lead Engineers).
• Clean the production line thoroughly, including unclogging blockages, at every equipment stoppage to maximise uptime on restart.
• Take part in planned maintenance windows, carrying out assigned tasks under the Production Coordinators' direction.
• Record faults, repairs, parts used and time-to-repair in the maintenance log after each intervention, and communicate open issues clearly during shift handover.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and all electrical safety procedures before working on equipment, and notify coordinators of recurring faults, parts shortages or maintenance risks.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
• Willingness and ability to work rotating 9-hour shifts, including night shifts, on a rotation cycle.
• Physically able to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment throughout the shift, including walking the production line regularly.
• Open to start as soon as possible; the role is open only to Kenyan citizens or permanent residents.

Required skills

• Practical electrical fault diagnosis; mechanical fault diagnosis is also preferred.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and electrical safety standards.
• Experience with high-temperature processing equipment, conveyors, combustion systems or biomass machinery is a strong advantage.
