English Teacher – Full Time (Nairobi)

About the role

Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory School is looking for an English Teacher to deliver the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) to primary or secondary learners in Nairobi. You will plan and deliver interactive lessons, assess learner progress against CBC benchmarks, and adapt instruction to suit different learning paces.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, learner‑centred English lessons that align with CBC core competencies.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor understanding and adjust teaching accordingly.
• Integrate ICT tools, group work and practical activities to make concepts relevant and accessible.
• Maintain a well‑managed classroom environment that encourages participation, respect and positive discipline.
• Identify learners needing extra support or enrichment and provide targeted interventions.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student performance and behaviour.
• Participate in school‑wide activities, staff meetings and professional development focused on CBC implementation.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, assessments and lesson plans.

Required profile

• Diploma (or equivalent) in Education or a related field.
• Mandatory teaching experience in a Kenyan primary or secondary school.
• Familiarity with the Competency Based Curriculum and ability to implement it effectively.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, parents and staff.
• Commitment to maintaining a supportive and disciplined classroom environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ICT tools for classroom instruction.
